Table Bench for Pieter TanTuy

Solid slabs of sustainably-harvested claro walnut join with reclaimed white oak legs and spindles that show crisp facets from the spoke shave. Filled with pigmented beeswax, the carved leaves, flower, and nascent pear of the backrest carry part of a life cycle narrative.
Pieter VanTuyl began with the goal of supporting fine craft skills that are rapidly being lost and utilizing those skills to produce limited-series, hand-made furniture and objects using sustainable materials. The brand was founded in Grand Rapids, Michigan by Tod Babick, John VanZee, and Gary Petertyl, whose original family name became the name of the company. Pieter VanTuyl entered the market with a collection focused on entryways. A narrative of natural cycles are referenced throughout the line, designed by Babick … trees bear flowers then fruit containing seeds that grow trees.
